"OMOIYARI" COMPASSION MATCHA CHAWAN
A beautiful matcha bowl, or chawan, is one of the most essential elements of a Japanese tea ceremony. This artisan ceramic bowl was handcrafted in Toki, Gifu prefecture, Japan. The light jade chawan is finished with a porous Shino-style signature glaze and deep brown calligraphy strokes, giving it beauty and character.
Omoiyari (思いやり) is a Japanese concept that translates to empathy, compassion, and deep consideration for others. It's more than just kindness; it involves understanding someone's needs and feelings, often without them explicitly saying it, and acting on that understanding. Essentially, it's about actively sending your thoughts and feelings to others.

Where I'm From
My light green signature glaze was created in a small town called Toki (土岐市,Toki-shi), 30km north of Nagoya City. Toki is known as one of the largest and oldest producers of Japanese pottery originating from the 7th century.
